Auckland worker burnt in blast
A worker is in serious condition in hospital after a small explosion at a south Auckland factory just before 9am.
The explosion at Sims Pacific Metals in Otahuhu happened when a fuel source caught alight, Otahuhu fire station officer Angela Munro said.
A 25-year-old man was taken to Middlemore Hospital with "quite severe burns" to his face, hands and arms, she said.
Sims Pacific Metals general manager Daniel Chapman declined to comment.
