Radio accidentally plays sexual audio
A Christchurch radio station has apologised for playing five minutes of sexual audio during a children's broadcast.
3 News reported that RDU 98.5Fm, a popular student radio station run by Canterbury University, aired several minutes of pornographic audio during a show last weekend.
The station played about five minutes of sexually explicit material during Radio for Kids shortly before 8am on Sunday.
Several listeners wrote complaints on the radio station's Facebook page.
"At 7.58 am this morning you were broadcasting someone having sex for five mins. On the children's show. What's the deal with that?," one post read.
Station manager James Meharry told 3 News the x-rated audio was accidentally aired and the person responsible had been "dealt with".
"There's no story to be had. It was an accident and I dealt with it with the relevant person."
The station apologised to listeners on its Facebook page but the post had since been deleted.
"Sometimes things like that happen and we do our best to rectify it," Meharry told 3 News.
He did not return calls to The Press this afternoon.
