A woman has been taken to Christchurch Hospital after being crushed between a 650-kilogram cow and a stockyard.
The incident occurred at a farm at Decanter Bay, Banks Peninsula, about 12.30pm today.
A Westpac rescue helicopter spokesman said the woman, 40, suffered moderate head, shoulder and leg injuries.
The woman was lucky her injuries were not more severe, given the circumstances, he said.
Fellow workers heard the woman yelling and rushed to help her, he said. No-one witnessed the incident.
It is understood the woman managed to free herself before collapsing nearby because of the pain, the spokesman said.
