A 60-year-old man is dead after falling off the roof of a building on Auckland's North Shore this afternoon.
Takapuna Sergeant James Watson said police were notified about the incident at the IRD building on Byron Ave at about 2.23pm.
The man, who is not understood to be an employee of IRD, crashed through a nearby cafe awning after falling from the roof.
Watson said the man was unconscious when emergency services arrived but died at the scene.
The footpath has been cordoned off in Byron Ave.
Police are interviewing bystanders and no further details are available.
