An Okato woman has died after her motorocycle crashed on State Highway 45 near Opunake this morning.
Passing motorists and emergency services performed CPR for 30-40 minutes but were unsuccessful.
Sergeant Kim Severinsen said it was understood the woman had failed to take a corner and had slid off the road.
Bad weather is thought to have been a factor.
Emergency services were called to the crash around 11:30am.
Police and fire are still at the scene where there is heavy rain and a small tent has been set up.
