Crash cuts power to thousands
A crash between a car and a truck cut electricity to parts of Papakura, 30km south of Auckland, early today.
Police communications said the vehicles took out a power pole at the intersection of Hunua and Dominion roads, a mainly rural area.
A police spokesman said it was a minor crash, at 5.22am, with no significant injuries.
Countries Power said power was cut to 3377 customers in Papakura South for about 45 minutes.
Another 32 customers still have no power but should have it back by the end of the day.
