A defended hearing for the man charged with causing the death of Timaru financier Allan Hubbard in a car crash last year has been pushed back to next year.
Mr Hubbard died as a result of the crash on State Highway One at Hilderthorpe, about 8 kilometres north of Oamaru.
Andy Earl, 40, of Mosgiel, was to defend charges of careless driving causing death and another of careless driving causing injury to Mr Hubbard's wife, Jean, in Timaru District Court on December 3.
However, Detective Sergeant Dan Keno, of Oamaru, said prosecution and police needed more time to complete inquiries. A prosecution review had identified "a couple of matters" that needed looking into.
"We're just making sure that we dot all our ‘i's and cross all our ‘t's."
A date for the hearing had not been set down but would be early next year, he said.
