A group of tourists has escaped injury after the campervan they were travelling overturned near Omarama, in Otago.

Police communications spokesman Rick Jury said the campervan rolled while taking on tight right-hand bend on the Twizel to Omarama Road, just a few kilometres north of Omarama.

"The vehicle was uprighted, and there were no injuries," he said.

It was not known how many tourists were in the campervan at the time, or where they were from.
