Moustachioed men across the country have raised more than $1.3 million during this year's Movember campaign.

The fundraising efforts of just over 15,000 "Mo Bros" and "Mo Sistas" ranked New Zealand sixth out of the 21 countries taking part on the money table.

New Zealand was eighth overall when it came to registrations, but Kiwis can take heart in the fact they gave the Spanish, French and Germans a lesson in how to grow facial hair.

Overall, Britain had the most registrations (362,889) while Canada raised the most money (NZ$45.9m).

New Zealand Movember manager Robert Dunne said registrations were up 15 per cent this year.

"Those who might be involved just for a bit of fun . . . now really see the bigger picture of promoting key messages of men's health awareness to mates, colleagues and family members."

In its seventh year, Movember involves people growing the best moustache possible in the 30 days of November to raise awareness for men's health.
