The North Island is set for a week of sunshine as a high lingers over the country.
Metservice predicts Auckland will see highs of 22 degrees through the week, ending with a bumper Sunday high of 25 degrees.
Hamilton, which is set to see temperatures of about 22 degrees throughout the week, should also have a hot weekend with highs of 25 degrees.
Sunny weather will also be a feature of Wellington's week, with highs of around 20 degrees.
A spokesman from Metservice said the weather is a result of a high pressure system over the Tasman, which will build from the southwest tomorrow and Wednesday.
"The ridge of the high is going to dominate over the North Island, so there'll be fine weather," he said.
"For the South Island, there's a front moving up the island, so there'll be rain and showers associated with that."
Christchurch starts the week with an expected 26 degrees today, but will also get few days of cloud, drizzle and easterly winds, Metservice said.
Dunedin will have patchy rain and cloud throughout the week that gradually improves to a warm, dry weekend with a high of 16 degrees.
Metservice said the cold front has swept over the North Island and will weaken as it moves over the South Island today.
