Truck carrying beer, toilet paper blocks road
A section of State Highway 1 near Morven in South Canterbury has been closed this morning after a truck and trailer, reportedly carrying toilet paper and beer, overturned.
Traffic is being detoured via Barnetts, Stokes and Crowes roads.
A police spokesman said it was likely the detour would remain in place for much of the morning.
Emergency services were called to the scene shortly after 6am. The truck knocked down several power poles that landed on the highway, forcing officials to close the road.
Two occupants of the truck suffered minor injuries and were taken to hospital. No other vehicles were involved. Officials were waiting on a crane to be brought to the scene to move the downed poles, police said.
