A 69-year-old truck driver was lucky to escape a crash on Takaka Hill today with only minor injuries.
His vehicle rolled near Riwaka, northwest of Nelson, at about 3.45pm with the truck’s cab crushed in the impact with the road.
The truck driver, from Blenhiem, was transporting a load of mussels at the time.
He was able to free himself from the crashed vehicle, but required medical treatment when paramedics arrived.
He was later taken to Nelson Hospital, but his injuries are described as minor.
