Quake rattles lower North Island

A magnitude 3.7 quake has woken residents in Whanganui.

Striking at a depth of 20km, 35km south-west of the city, Geonet described the quake as "light''.

The quake hit at 6.05am and was felt as far north as Whanganui and as far south as Porirua.
