Police, fire and ambulance personnel responded to the scene of a crash near Cave at 2.30pm, but the driver of the vehicle was nowhere to be found.

Police at the scene said one vehicle, described as a maroon four-wheel-drive, had overturned and was off the side of State Highway 8 about four kilometres north of Cave.

A passing truck driver called emergency services.

The driver of the wrecked vehicle wasn't located at the scene. Police said it was possible that he or she got a ride from someone travelling past.
