All road links between Nelson and Richmond were closed earlier today causing major traffic delays, after an ammonia leak at the Alliance meatworks in the Nelson suburb of Stoke.
Emergency services were alerted to the leak shortly before 10am, and police said the last of the closed links had been re-opened by early afternoon.
Eight Fire Service vehicles went to the scene, and firefighters wore full chemical suits while they isolated the leak.
