Jet skier crashes into rocks
A 45-year-old man suffered serious chest injuries when he crashed a jet ski into the rocks at a South Canterbury lake.
A Westpac Rescue Helicopter spokesman said they were alerted to the incident at the head waters of Lake Aviemore, about 5.30pm.
He said the Christchurch man, who was not wearing a life jacket or helmet, also sustained "nasty lacerations" and broke his arm.
He was flown to Christchurch Hospital.
He apparently hit the rocks at about 60 or 70km/h. The jet ski was "totalled", he said.
The spokesman said it was unclear how the incident occurred.
