One lucky punter won't need to count the costs of their summer holiday after winning last night's $15 million Big Wednesday draw.
A Lotto spokeswoman said while the winner was yet to claim their prize the ticket was sold at the Caltex Station on Karamu Rd in Hastings, which also sold the second division-winning ticket.
It was likely the same person won both divisions, boosting their winnings by another $409,492.
Mitesh Chaudhari, manager of the Caltex, said since news of the big prize had got out, huge numbers of people had been coming in to the petrol station to check their tickets. However, the winner was yet to emerge.
"It's really good news for us and for us customers - it's unbelievable."
"It's been a long time since we've had a winning ticket here in Hastings. It seems like everything is always won in Auckland or somewhere else."
The pool had not been struck since a Tauranga man took home $27m in September, making this week's win the third largest Big Wednesday prize.
The biggest was $36.8m won by a family syndicate from Masterton in 2009.
A Papakura pig hunter won a $28.7m Lotto Powerball prize in October 2010 and 34-year-old Trevor Cooper from Te Kauwhata took home $26m last April.
