BEE BLAMED: Police attend a single-car accident near Canvastown yesterday.

Two tourists have crashed near Canvastown, Marlborough after a bee flew into their car, a Havelock Volunteer Fire Brigade spokesman says.

The driver tried to swat the bee, lost control and skidded about 50 metres across the road into a bank, the spokesman said.

The men, both in their 30s, were taken to Wairau Hospital, in Blenheim, with minor cuts to their arms and chest. They were treated and discharged.

They were travelling from Nelson towards Havelock when they crashed about 12.40pm. No other car was involved in the crash, about 1 kilometre on the Havelock side of the Trout Hotel.

Blenheim and Havelock ambulance crews attended, along with police and the Havelock Volunteer Fire Brigade.
