An 18-year-old Aucklander is dead after drinking home brewed spirits before a friend's party.
Tyson Devon was drinking through Saturday afternoon at a friend's birthday party when he passed out. His friends then put him in the recovery position.
Emergency services were called to the property in Rosehill, south Auckland, about 6.30pm after friends had checked on him and found he was not breathing, a police spokesperson said.
A St Johns ambulance spokesperson said staff found Devon in cardiac arrest and despite attempts to resuscitate him he died and the scene.
His friends had marked Devon's death by tagging RIP on a house near the property.
