A 40-year-old man who came off his farm bike and died in Taupo was found by his wife just metres from his home.
Farmer Craig Allan Paul was found lying next to his motorcycle in the middle of Harris Road, Putaruru about 5pm last night.
Taupo road police senior sergeant Fane Troy said CPR was conducted immediately, and ambulance services called, but he could not be revived.
No other vehicles were involved, and the exact cause of his death would not be known until autopsy results were back.
The Serious Crash Unit were investigating, but road and weather conditions were fine at the time.
''My gut instinct tells me we're possibly looking at something medical.''
The family, including his wife who found him, were understandably upset, he said
