A magnitude-3.9 aftershock rattled Christchurch last night on the anniversary of the February 22, 2011, earthquake.
The 10.56pm shake at a depth of 8km and about 15km east of the CBD, was widely felt in central and eastern parts of the city.
Geonet initially reported the quake was magnitude 4.1.
No reports of damage were received.
Another tremor, magnitude-3.8 quake, woke many Cantabrians at 2.54am yesterday.
