Witnesses sought in suspected hit-and-run
Police are seeking information on a possible hit-and-run in Christchurch over night.
A passing motorist found a 21-year-old Christchurch man lying in the middle of Gardiners Rd, Harewood, with serious leg injuries about 12.20am.
Police say they presume he was hit by a car near to where he was found, about 200 metres north of Claridges Rd.
Detective Marc Boodee said the man required surgery and had not yet been formally interviewed by police.
Police believed he had been hit by a car.
The man had been drinking.
Police are appealing for witnesses who may have seen the man walking along Gardiners Rd, or seen any suspicious vehicles or activity in the area.
Anyone with information should phone Boodee on (03) 363 7443.
