Police are looking for a 20-year old Christchurch man in relation to the disappearance of a teenage girl five days ago.
Detective Sergeant Mark Worner said police had concerns for the well-being of a 13-year-old girl from Harewood, who was known to have been associating with Daniel Gerrar, 20.
Gerrard has active warrants out for his arrest for breach of bail and wilful damage.
Warner said the girl was reported missing by her family on Monday.
Her disappearance was unusual, and the family had not met Gerrar, he said.
Police believed the pair were together and that she had gone with him willingly, but were unsure of the nature of their relationship.
"We do not have specific fears for her safety, but we are anxious to locate her," Worner said.
The main concern was her care, protection and well-being, he said.
Gerrard is believed to be in the Christchurch area.
He is described as Maori, approximately 180cm tall and of thin build.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Worner on (03) 972 5893 or Christchurch police on (03) 363 7400.
