An elderly woman is dead after the car she was driving crashed down a bank this evening.
Police say alcohol and weather conditions may have been a factor in the crash in Kaeo, north of Auckland.
Emergency services were called to the crash at Whangaroa Road, Kaeo, at 8pm tonight, police said in a statement. The 73-year-old driver failed to take a sharp bend and crashed down a bank and into a tree. She died at the scene.
A passenger suffered minor injuries.
An investigation into the crash has suggested alcohol and weather conditions could have been a factor.
