Firefighters had to help remove a Napier woman from a laundry chute at her home after she got stuck during a spot of late night "spontaneous fun".
The incident happened at the Te Awa Ave, Hawke's Bay house about 11.30pm yesterday.
Senior station officer Collin Littlewood said firefighters arrived to find a woman in her 20s stuck in the small elevator, which was meant to be used to ferry laundry between floors of the domestic home.
There was barely enough room to move inside the elevator.
Getting in the lift was a "dumb decision" brought about "spontaneously to have a bit of fun", he said.
Firefighters had to unwind the elevator's mechanism to lower it to the bottom to get the woman out.
The woman was removed after an hour without the need for cutting tools.
"They were quite claustrophobic in the end."
