Black ice hazard on South Island roads
Police are urging drivers to take extra care on all South Island roads today.
A police spokesman said roads were very icy this morning, with black ice on several across the South Island.
He said more people would be on the roads as the rain and snow had disappeared, but the roads were still dangerous.
"Slow down and be aware and increase your following distance," he said.
Meanwhile, there have been four minor car collisions in Christchurch this morning.
However, whether this was because of ice was not yet known, a police spokesman said.
