Paraponter seriously injured after crashing into Coronet Peak power lines
A paraponter has been taken to Southland Hospital with serious injuries after crashing near Coronet Peak skifield.
The man, in his 30s, crashed into power lines on Coronet Peak near Queenstown about 4pm, cutting power to the skifield.
Police said he had burns to his back and a broken leg. Emergency services extracted him from a gully.
The fire service used a four-wheel-drive vehicle to reach the patient.
He was taken by rescue helicopter to the emergency department.
St John, police and firefighters were all at the Coronet Peak car park with a helicopter in the air assisting with the rescue.
