A motorcyclist was airlifted to Wellington Hospital this afternoon after an accident in Wairarapa.
The man, in his late 30s, was hurt in a crash near the Riversdale turn-off on the Castlepoint-Masterton Rd.
The Life Flight Trust’s Westpac rescue helicopter was called about 1.30pm and flew to the scene with a Wellington Free Ambulance paramedic on board.
The helicopter was able to land in a paddock near the accident site, where fire service personnel assisted with transferring the motorcyclist to the helicopter, Life Flight crewman Colin Larsen said.
The man had moderate injuries and was treated in Wellington Hospital’s emergency department.
