Racial abuse passenger identified
Invercargill man Gregory Shuttleworth has been identified as the person who racially abused a Pakistan-born taxi driver in the city on Friday morning.
Invercargill Taxis driver Tariq Humayun was subjected to racial abuse by Shuttleworth while he was driving him home.
Shuttleworth told him to ''f*** off and go back to where you came from,'' told him he was ''an Islam p***k'' and ''you don't belong here.''
Humayun captured the torrent of abuse on his Iphone video camera.
He said today it was the worst abuse he had been subjected to in his five years' of driving taxis and he still felt unsafe and upset.
When contacted yesterday Shuttleworth said the abuse should not have happened and he was regretful and remorseful.
''It's wrong, it's going to affect a lot of people and it's all my fault.''
He had contacted the company to apologise but they did not want to talk to him, he said.
