Arthur's Pass rocked by earthquakes overnight
The Arthur's Pass area has been rocked by a flurry of earthquakes overnight.

The first was a magnitude 4.9 quake around 2.35am, at a depth of 8km, 25km southeast of Arthur's Pass.
GeoNet described it as severe, with 216 "felt it" reports received by 5am.
It was followed by another half-dozen quakes strong enough to be felt in the next few hours, ranging in magnitude between 2.8 and 4.0.
A magnitude 4.3 quake gave the top of the South Island and bottom of the North Island a shake at 3.36am. It was centred 15km east of Seddon at a depth of 13km, and was described as moderate by GeoNet.
