Unwell man winched from boat
A 57-year-old Nelson man was winched from a fishing boat in the Tory Channel on Saturday.
Nelson Marlborough rescue helicopter pilot Tim Douglas-Clifford said the man was on board a 20 metre fishing boat and had become seriously unwell with chest pains during the day.
The Nelson Marlborough Rescue Helicopter was called to the middle of Queen Charlotte Sound near Luke Rock in Ruakaka Bay about 2.50pm.
An intensive care paramedic was winched onboard the boat and both him and the patient were winched in to the helicopter.
The man was taken to Nelson Hospital for further treatment.
