Man flown to hospital after serious crash in Marton
A man has been flown to hospital in a serious condition and a central road in Marton was blocked after a crash.
A vehicle hit the overbridge on Kensington Rd just after 3pm on Monday, a police spokesman said.
Police, fire and ambulance officers responded, and the driver was flown to hospital by helicopter in a serious condition.
The serious crash unit also attended.
The road was closed following the crash, with damaged barriers blocking one lane, but contractors removed them and the road was reopened, the police spokesman said.
At 6.40pm police were called to a crash in Palmerston North, where a black hatchback was badly damaged in a collision with a silver sedan at the corner of Bryant and Cuba streets.
Police said there were no injuries.
Later in the night a crash at traffic lights at the corner of Church St and The Square in Palmerston North also closed a central road briefly as the scene was cleared.
Police were called to the two-car collision about 9.15pm, and "the two drivers were taken to hospital for a checkup", a police spokeswoman said.
