Capsized boat a mystery for Bay of Plenty rescuers
Rescuers found an overturned boat in Bay of Plenty waters but they don't know who it belongs to.
A light aircraft reported the 5.6m boat off the shore of Waihi Beach about 3pm on Tuesday, Sunlive reported.
The boat is a fibreglass Sea Nymph called Optimist and was south of Mayor Island, a wildlife refuge also known as Tuhua.
A search followed, involving police, the Waihi Beach Volunteer Coastguard and the Trustpower TECT Rescue Helicopter.

They got the boat back and an extensive search didn't reveal anyone in the water, so Tauranga Police are now trying to find the boat's owner.
The boat has a 150hp Mercury outboard with it.
