Waikato marae burglars take ride-on mower, chainsaw
A "scoundrel" forced their way into the shed of a Waikato marae to steal an expensive ride-on mower and a chainsaw.
Now the people of Aotearoa Marae, about 40 minutes southeast of Te Awamutu, are offering a $1000 reward for the mower's return.
The break-in happened on Aotearoa Road in in Wharepapa South, between March 8 and 15, a Waikato District Police social media post said.
"Some scoundrel has pulled out the glass window, forced the metal out of the way and gone inside," it said.
"They have then helped themselves to some bits and pieces along with a chainsaw and this very expensive lawnmower."
The owners don't have enough in the kitty to replace the mower so are hoping it will be returned, the post said.
Anyone with information can contact police or John at the marae, with the case number 170315/3332.
