A pizza pavlova, courtesy of the Italian Embassy in Wellington after Prime Minister Bill English butchered a pizza.

Prime Minister Bill English practically divided the nation when he shared selfies of himself with a dinner he whipped up for his family.

English was widely lampooned for his creative use of canned spaghetti and pineapple.

On a pizza.

The homemade pizzas were also topped with bacon, spring onion and cheese.

The PM says he was "dared by one of his kids" to post the pictures.

'Spaghetti on pizza!' - Bill English's attempt at cooking pizza for dinner labelled a 'monstrosity'

The Italian Embassy in Wellington has responded with an epic 'vendetta' aimed at just about the only culinary dish of note from New Zealand - the pavlova.

The embassy posted a pizza-pavlova on Twitter, a variation on the classic Kiwi dessert except with slices of salami instead of strawberries.

Who knows? It might go well with the PM's pizza.

Not to be undone by Steven Joyce and a sex toy in the face, English's lightly less embarrassing cooking skills made it onto a US comedy network, The Jimmy Kimmel Show.
