Missing 9-year-old in Hawke's Bay found safe
A 9-year-old boy who has been missing since early on Thursday morning has been found.
The alarm was raised after Blair Crabtree was last seen at 5.15am on the footpath at the corner of Heretaunga St and Willowpark Rd in Hastings.
Police began looking for the young boy after he was reported missing from his home on Outram Rd, in Akina, Hastings.
He is described as 145cm tall, of medium build, with straight brown and blonde hair, and hazel eyes. He was last wearing a grey shark onesie.
The child has since been found safe, and police have thanked the community for their support, "and for offering helpful and kind comments on social media".
Locals posted on Facebook that the boy had been sighted at both Mitre 10 and New World.
Senior Sergeant David Sutherland said police require the authority of parents, guardians, or relatives to put the name of the missing person in the public domain.
"The decision to do this was made once the boy had not been seen by police patrols, [we] received a useful call which enabled Police to locate the boy," he said.
"No two missing person reports are the same. For any report, an assessment would include considering an individual's history.
"Police conducted area patrols, made enquiries and kept the family informed."
