Firefighters extinguish large blaze on farm near Pukekohe, south Auckland
Firefighters have extinguished a blaze that destroyed two large sheds on a farm near Pukekohe, south Auckland, on Saturday morning.
A fire service spokesman said crews had left the property on Ostrich Farm Road just after 10am.
The fire service were called to the property at 5.18am on Saturday, after a fire began in a shed.
A second shed also caught on fire, and eight trucks and 35 firefighters battled to put out the blaze in the two sheds, which each measured 50x20 metres.
Two water tankers were also called in from Papakura and Tuakau, the spokesman said earlier.
The sheds weren't believed to contain any hazardous chemicals.
The cause of the blaze was not yet known, and it was too early to say whether it was suspicious, the spokesman said.
