Pair charged with kidnapping after Dunedin incident
A man was allegedly kidnapped, threatened and then abandoned in an incident in Dunedin.
Two men, one in his 20s and one on his 40s, were jointly charged with kidnapping and being unlawfully in a building.
The younger was also charged with threatening to kill/threatening to cause grievous bodily harm.
Police allege the men got into an argument with the victim, aged in his 20s, in central Dunedin about 7pm Friday.
The pair allegedly demanded property from the victim, but when he refused they took him in a vehicle to Flagstaff – a hill overlooking the city.
The victim was allegedly threatened and later let go, with the men leaving towards Mosgiel.
The victim, who was shaken but uninjured, phoned police.
On Sunday, police issued a Facebook plea concerning the men, but have since removed the post.
