The body of a young girl has been pulled from Lake Tarawera, after she and her father disappeared kayaking.
The man's body was recovered earlier.
Ambulance received a call about 11.10am after the single kayak the girl and her 40-year-old father had been in was seen upturned on the water, a police spokeswoman said.
"It's not clear at this stage what happened . . . but the pair disappeared under the water and didn't re-surface," the spokeswoman said.
Locals and holidaymakers as well as emergency service personnel and coastguard have been searching for the pair since.
A search was also carried out by the Bay Trust Rescue helicopter and divers have been called in.
The kayak, its paddle and an adult life-jacket have been recovered. It is understood the child was wearing the adult life-jacket and her father was not wearing a life-jacket.
The pair were understood to be holidaying by the lake with family.
