A body has been pulled from a lake near Rotorua.

Edward MacDougall, 77, of Pukehina, Bay of Plenty, went missing on a fishing trip on Lake Rotoehu on Saturday.

The police national dive squad today found his body in the lake.

Senior Sergeant Malcolm Collins said that it appeared MacDougall had been wearing a lifejacket, but it was found separate from the body.

It appeared it had not been done up properly and had fallen off, he said.

Police said there were no suspicious circumstances around the death, which had been referred to the coroner.

The lower drink-driving limits from December are:

Great - too much carnage on our roads.

Overkill - targets moderate drinkers, not the heavies

Still too little - make it zero tolerance.

Sensible - punishment is in line with lesser breaches of limit.
