Police searching for a missing Greytown man have found a body at Castle Rock south of Castlepoint.
The body is yet to be identified but the family of missing man Miroslav Tvaroh have been informed.
Tvaroh, 34, has not been heard from since he left home for Castlepoint, 65 kilometres east of Masterton, about 7am on Christmas Eve.
His partner called police just before 6.30pm that day after he did not return home.
Police, Land Search and Rescue and volunteers from the local surf club battled strong winds as they combed the area yesterday looking for him.
A police spokesperson said a search helicopter discovered the body of a dead man below a bluff system at Castle Rock about 7.45am this morning.
Riverdale Surf Lifesaving club members helped with its recovery.
Police believe the man died after falling from Castle Rock. His death will be reported to the coroner.
