A woman has been airlifted to Rotorua hospital with serious injuries following a car crash near Taupo.
Emergency services were called to SH1 at Oraunui, north of Taupo, about 9.30am after a car carrying a trailer clipped a truck and rolled.
BayTrust Rescue Helicopter base manager Barry Vincent said there were two people in the car, with a 62-year-old Wellington woman needing to be airlifted to Rotorua Hospital with suspected chest injuries.
Emergency services closed the road for a period of time to allow the rescue helicopter to land and to investigate the accident but the road was open again.
The truck driver was not injured, Vincent said.
