Police investigate drowning of disabled teen
Police are investigating the death of a disabled teen who drowned in a bath while in respite care.
Detective Senior Sergeant Craig Sheridan said a 15-year-old boy was found submerged in the bath at a Palmerston North home on Friday evening.
He was taken to Palmerston North Hospital intensive care unit, but was pronounced dead just before midnight.
Police were investigating on behalf of the coroner and the investigation was expected to take a couple of weeks, Sheridan said.
The respite care facility was working with the family, as was victim support. Sheridan would not divulge the nature of the teen's disability.
