A Swiss woman was hit by a falling boulder on Mt Ngauruhoe today.
The woman, 27, was descending the mountain when a climber above her dislodged a boulder.
She evaded the main force of the boulder, but suffered a suspected compound fracture to her arm and a cut to her head.
The boulder was described by a witness as a monster.
The woman was taken off the mountain by the Taupo rescue helicopter.
