The total hose ban in Gisborne has been lifted and water is being pumped through the city's repaired pipeline, the Gisborne District Council says.
Testing of the water pipeline today confirmed the break on January 7 that caused the water crisis has been successfully repaired.
As a safeguard, some water restrictions were still in place.
Residents could use handheld hoses anytime, but sprinklers could be on only between 6pm and 8pm on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
People were encouraged to continue to use water conservatively, council chief executive Judy Campbell said.
