Seven people have been hospitalised after a three-car crash in Manawatu.
Three children were among the injured in the accident on Campbell Road, Bunnythorpe, at 10.40pm tonight.
Firefighters had to use the jaws of life to cut one person from a vehicle, a fire service communications spokeswoman said.
Another person had been thrown from a vehicle in the crash.
Two women, aged 27 and 48, had serious injuries.
A 34-year-old woman and a 26-year-old man had moderate injuries, while the three children - aged 9, eight, and six - had minor injuries.
Three ambulances were needed to transport all the patients were transported to Palmerston North hospital, a St John communications centre spokeswoman said.
It was not known what vehicles each of the patients were travelling in.
The road was closed, but has now reopened.
Bunnythorpe is about 12 kilometres north of Palmerston North.
