Young crash victim critical but stable
Serious-crash unit investigators are today examining the scene where a 10-year-old girl was knocked off her bike in rural north Waikato yesterday.
The girl was hit by a Lexus sedan about 3.30pm in Morrison Rd, Pukekawa.
She suffered serious head and limb injuries.
She was airlifted to Auckland's Starship children's hospital, where she was described today as being in a critical but stable condition.
Police said she was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
Senior Constable Steve Carey said the girl was playing on a friend's driveway when she rode on to the road, which has a 100kmh limit.
The Counties Manukau police serious-crash unit is continuing to investigate the accident.
