Police hunting crash witnesses

Police want to talk to the passengers of a van who were in the vicinity of a fatal Northland crash yesterday.

One person died and several others were injured after a Nissan station wagon and a Harley Davidson motorcycle were involved in a head-on collision about 4.30pm on Inland Rd, Karikari Peninsula.

English tourist, Anne Eileen Tomkinson, 60, who was a pillion passenger on the motorcycle, died at the scene.

A 54-year-old female passenger in the station wagon is in Kaitaia Hospital in a stable condition while the 47-year-old male rider of the motorcycle is stable in Whangarei Hospital.

Police want to hear from the occupants of a van that was travelling towards the peninsula and were in the vicinity of the crash.

They would also like to hear from anyone who witnessed the crash.
