The victim of a fatal road crash on Haywards Hill near Wellington on Wednesday was a "top bloke" whose partner was expecting a baby within a couple of weeks.
Richard van der Linden, 28, of Upper Hutt, was killed in a crash between a ute, a small truck and a van on State Highway 58 between Pauatahanui and the Hutt Valley.
Since his death, a campaign, called "Koha for Jen", has been set up on fundraising website Give A Little to raise money for the mother of his unborn child.
He was a top bloke who was "two weeks out from meeting his newborn child", the website says.
The page was set up with a goal to raise $5000. By yesterday afternoon, $5850 had been raised.
