A microlight pilot has walked away from a crash at Hastings Aerodrome this afternoon.

The student pilot was practising a forced landing on undulating terrain when his plane's front wheel collapsed, Hawke's Bay and East Coast Aero Club chief flying instructor Max Dixon said.

The man was unhurt and the microlight suffered only minor damage in the crash, which happened about 2.15pm.
